It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Prof. Laura Bertoletti. Professor of Educational Sciences, Laura tirelessly carried out tasks of dissemination and management at our institute. Her contribution over 24 years at IAFE, organizing events and promoting the communication of institutional activities, is invaluable, leaving an indelible mark on our community and on science. All of us who had the privilege of working alongside her received her constant and generous support. Above her outstanding professional work, Laura was an exceptional person and an exemplary colleague. \n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tIn Memory of Dr. Daniel G\u00f3mez\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t

With deep sorrow, we regret to report the passed of our director Daniel G\u00f3mez, who passed away yesterday at the age of 65. Daniel was a professor at the Department of Physics at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and a principal investigator at CONICET. An internationally recognized specialist in plasma physics and passionate about numerical modeling, Daniel obtained his bachelor’s and doctorate degrees in Physics at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at the UBA and since his insertion as a researcher at the IAFE he demonstrated an immense commitment to the development of astrophysics and space physics in our country and, beyond his field of interest, to national science and public education. In 2017 he received the Jos\u00e9 Luis Sersic award from the Argentine Astronomy Association and the \u201cAbdus Salam Spirit Award\u201d awarded by the International Center<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\tRead the article\t\t<\/a>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0 \u00a0 From Valcheta, Dr. Cristina Mandrini sends us white-light images of the totality of the eclipse. In image 2, several protuberances can be seen in the solar corona. Dr. Mandrini, a researcher at IAFE (Solar Physics), coordinated the Valcheta node during the event. Solar protuberances are structures of dense and cold plasma (compared to the solar corona) that emerge from the photosphere and are associated with mass ejections.
