PASSIVE AND RADAR IMAGING OF THE SAN JORGE ECOSYSTEM (PARADISE).

Es una propuesta de investigación conjunta entre Argentina y Canadá para estudiar el ecosistema del Golfo San Jorge (Argentina) utilizando sensores remotos, como parte del Programa MARES (MArine ecosystem health of the San Jorge Gulf: Present status and RESilience capacity). – TERMINADO

The specific objectives of the project are: 1) Characterize the optical properties of the SJG and validate current ocean color remote sensing products that estimate phytoplankton biomass; 2) Use archived satellite imagery to detect and estimate seasonal/inter-annual variability of phytoplankton distribution associated with highly productive regions or “hot spots”; 3) Characterize the distribution and extent of sea surface oil slicks derived form oil spills and biological phenomena.
