TURBINET – A NETWORK FOR MARINE OPTICS MEASUREMENTS IN TURBID WATERS

Proyecto financiado por el Belgian Federal Science Policy Office (BELSPO). 2014-2016 – TERMINADO

TURBINET proposes a new network to establish long-term and data-sharing by establishing harmonized measurement protocols and data quality and by preparing a joint database. The main objectives are: 1) To test the generality/regionality of algorithms to estimate suspended particulate matter from satellite data of turbid waters; 2) To uniformise the quality control of multi-site in situ data for validation of ocean colour remote sensors; 3) To achieve long-term sustainability of these activities by adoption of agreed measurement protocols and a joint measurement database; and 4) To prepare long-term expansion of these activities to other partners/regions based on the core methodologies developed within TURBINET.
