Supernova Remnants and Interstellar Medium Group
A supernova explosion is the violent end of a massive star. The Supernova Remnants (SNRs)
are the rest of this explosion.
The main research field of this group is to investigate Galactic SNRs and
the surrounding interstellar medium (ISM), based on observational grounds. The goal of
this study is the comprehension of the SNR-ISM mutual interaction.
Another research field of this group is the ISM of our Galaxy and other galaxies, studying the physics
and chemistry of molecular clouds and star forming processes.
To carry out our investigation we use different radiotelescopes from USA, Chile, India, Canada
and Australia, as well as NASA and ESA orbital telescopes.
Our team maintains strong bounds with many international SNRs - ISM research groups.
Postage stamp from Correo Oficial de la República Argentina in commemoration of 50 years of Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET).

This postage stamp shows an image of the supernova remnant W44 obtained by G. Castelletti and G. Dubner, researchers
of this team, in colaboration with researchers from USA. See Astronomy and Astrophysics, Volume 471, Issue 2,
